Slow Sundays
This Sunday I've been pretty laid up. So since I'm banned from using the rotary cutter until I get one of those metal Michael Jackson-esque gloves to protect my digits from my own stupidity, I stuck to the scissors and sewing machine today. I made a few nice little iPad cases and posted them to Etsy! (My first Etsy post, eep!)
The first step to being sharp...
So last week I was cutting some fabric for a quilt and I cut my finger slightly. I figured this wasn't due to my carelessness/clumsyness but because my blade wasn't sharp enough. So off I went to Fred Aldous and bought a new Fiskars rotary cutter. (This one.) I was super excited when I got home, excited enough to start a new quilt! So I got all of my pieces cut out before the weekend, and spent Saturday afternoon piecing blocks of 4 little squares together. Because I'm not the most precise with the rotary cutter, I usually even up pieces that I sew together. Well that was going smoothly, I was in a groove cutting and stacking, listening to A Storm of Swords when...
... I cut the tip of my finger off!
It sounds worse than it is. It's mostly my fingernail. But it did bleed. A lot. So much so that I had to go to the hospital to get it bandaged up.
It doesn't actually hurt as much as you would think. I'm mostly upset because I'm getting married in two weeks, and the finger next to my ring finger is going to be a horrible mess. Good thing I bought gloves.
